Take it from a Knoxville wedding photographer: You don’t need permission to make your wedding day a little bit funky and a whole lotta YOU. Whether it’s a soft-serve ice cream station or color drenching TF out of your reception, if your wedding tells your story and feels like you, it’s a 10/10! And there’s a way to be silly and fun, but still heartfelt. So, if you’re ready for tons of colorful wedding ideas, The Fosters’ silly, whimsical wedding day at Maple Grove Estate has more than you could ever dream of.

My Favorite Colorful Wedding Ideas
My favorite weddings are the ones filled with personality, hands-down. And one of the best ways I see this done? Color! A colorful wedding can mean anything from a day with a rainbow color palette to a bold monochrome wedding, and I’m here FOR IT ALL. If you’re looking for something unique, I gotchu. Here are some ideas I’m loving!
Make it a Retro Theme
A 70’s theme wedding with disco balls, funky patterns, and groovy music??? Sign me UP! But seriously, having some sort of theme is ALWAYS a good time, and a wedding with retro vibes just screams fun.

Include Colorful Decor Allll Over
Of course, if you’re planning a colorful wedding, you’ve gotta include colorful decor. Think bold hues everywhere: the florals, the tables, the signage, the outfits… I’m in love.
The Fosters did this SO well. Everything, down to the bride’s shoes (which I’m seriously still dreaming about), was colorful! My literal dream, as a Knoxville wedding photographer.

Opt for a Monochrome Wedding
This is a trend that’s having a moment, and honestly? As it should. If you love color but not a color palette, a monochrome wedding might be just right for you. Pick your favorite color and commit to it, everywhere. Tie in that color with bridal accessories, decor, florals, and accents everywhere!

Create a Dress Code for Your Guests
In the same vein as monochrome weddings, you can always have your guests stick to a color scheme for a uniform feel and to bring in something fun and unique. This was familiarized with couples having their guests wear all black (a trend I still love), but you can get creative with it! I’ve even seen couples have guests wear vintage prom dresses to their weddings, and I’m SO on board with it.

Wear a Colorful Wedding Dress (Or Veil!)
I’m actually obsessed with unique wedding dresses. Colorful wedding dresses? In love. Black wedding dresses? Obsessed. Even if you don’t want to commit to all-over color, you can incorporate accessories that add a pop of color, like these bejeweled bridal gloves or this purple feather veil!
Love the idea of adding some color to your wedding dress? Love that for you! Here are some dresses I can’t get over:

Why Maple Grove Estate is the Perfect Venue for Your Colorful Wedding
Maple Grove Estate is a place that lets you put your own spin on it, which makes it so perfect for a colorful wedding. It’s a blank slate, and it’s hella gorgeous all on its own. It’s giving quaint vintage charm, and I love it.

An Overview of the Gorgeous Knoxville Wedding Venue
Maple Grove Estate lets you party with 185 guests, at a historic home you get all to yourself. They make it so easy to plan a wedding here, so all you have to do is kick back and relax! They have a pre-approved vendor list to choose from, on-site accommodations, and a ton of inclusions that you actually want.

The Fosters’ Fun, Color-Filled Wedding Day
Maggie and Hunter are a couple who are always smiling and laughing, and their wedding reflected their vibrant personalities SO well. Super carefree, super fun, super silly, but still full of meaning and love, which is their exact vibe. Nothing felt stiff and stuffy or even too fancy, and that’s what made it so special.

Maggie and Hunter did a private first look and vows, and I was seriously crying in the club. It was so heartfelt and full of connection, with the sweetest declarations of love read from vow books that were made by Maggie’s best friend. And since they did their vows and photos before the ceremony, they got to go straight to the party after. Hell yeah!!!

Their wedding day also unlocked a new core memory for me: Maggie’s HUGE smile when she was walking down the aisle. Seriously, find someone who’s that excited to meet you at the end of the aisle… Period! These two are so freakin smitten, and it shows.

Disco ball decorations, a color-encouraged guest dress code, pizza, and ice cream cone cheers in place of a cake cutting were just a few of the elements that made their day so FUN. Everything went so perfectly that you would never even know that we were following the venue’s rain plan because it was raining all day! I always tell my couples that the only thing that can ruin their wedding day is their attitude and how they chose to embrace the day… And the Fosters totally embraced the weather and didn’t let it phase them at ALL. Rain could nevaaaa stop the good vibes that the Fosters bring!!

Don’t even get me started on these vendors… It was seriously such a dream team! I can’t recommend these people enough:
Planning: Wild Sage Weddings
H&MUA: The Effortless Beauty Co.
Florist: Napping Cat Floral Studio
Sweet words from the couple: “I literally can’t say enough incredible things about Jessie!! She is AMAZING, and I absolutely adore her. I’ve never felt so beautiful, seen, and comfortable. I can’t imagine getting married without her. She captured us in a way that feels so authentic to who we are as individuals and as a couple. I love her and want her to be my best friend forever.”
