Let’s get one thing straight: Boudoir isn’t just about lingerie or looking hot (though, you absolutely will). It’s about feeling like your most confident, authentic self. Whether that means dripping in leather, dancing in disco lights, or rocking nothing but a killer attitude, your session should feel like YOU. Your session doesn’t have to be white lace on a bed if you don’t want them to be (but don’t worry, we love the classic vibes too!). As a boudoir photographer, I love creating themes for people who want their shoot to feel different and more true to them. Whether you’re romantic and feminine or a tattooed baddie like Leah, know that you don’t have to fit into a mold to do a boudoir photoshoot!! Whatever makes you feel sexy AF is what we’ll do, so let’s get into some of my FAVORITE boudoir photoshoot ideas to see if any of them would make you feel like the queen you are!!

You don’t need permission to feel confident, creative, or sexy, but if you’re waiting for a sign? This is it.

6 Boudoir Photoshoot Ideas For the Unique Person

You don’t need a wedding, anniversary, or partner to justify a boudoir shoot. You can book a session just because you woke up and said, “I deserve to feel sexy AF today.” And honestly? That’s my favorite kind.

Boudoir isn’t about being anyone else, it’s about reconnecting with the version of you that’s always been there. The confident, wild, magnetic you. Whether that shows up in leather or lace, I’m here to capture them.

Your boudoir photoshoot should be about embracing your sexiness, no matter how that looks. Because you’re at your sexiest when you’re feeling like the most authentic version of yourself! Don’t try to fit into something that isn’t you! If any of these ideas feel right to you, we might make a damn good team:

Have a Theme

As a boudoir photographer, I LOVE a theme. I think it’s a great way to get photos that are a little different, a little spicy, a little more storytelling. And the opportunities for themes? They’re seriously endless. Don’t you worry, I have some ideas:

  • Retro Theme:

Think 70’s film vibes: Golden light, vinyl records, and big hair. Grab your favorite shades and let’s make something that looks straight out of a vintage magazine cover.

  • Disco Cowgirl Theme:

Picture this: a sparkly cowboy hat, lingerie a disco ball, and you laughing your ass off in between poses because it’s just that fun.

  • Flower Fairy Theme:

If you’re on the softer side but still not quite at the classic, white lace feel, think flower fairy. Think: ethereal editing, flowers in your hair, garden fairy vibes. SLAY!

The list goes on and on here, and if you have a vision in mind, trust that we will make that happen!

Incorporate Things You Love

Because… What feels more like you than your favorite things? For example, Leah wanted to somehow incorporate red wine (it’s a hell yes from me) and her leather jacket, two things that make her, her. And I mean, LOOK at how these pics turned out! So my answer is YES, ALWAYS bring your fave things as props!!

Use Props

Speaking of props, even if it’s not your favorite thing, think of items to spice up your photos a little bit. At Leah’s session? It was a vintage red phone and some candles, are you joking?! Sexy AF.

Make it Editorial

Editorial boudoir photos are such a vibe. We incorporated some of these shots in Leah’s studio shoot by using fun lighting, and seriously, these could be in a magazine. And don’t worry, you don’t need to know your angles or poses, that’s my job. You just bring the vibe, and I’ll walk you through everything. All you have to do is show up, trust me, and get ready to feel like the main character.

Stay Away From the Bedroom Setup

If you’re looking for something ultra-unique, you could totally avoid the bedroom setup. Get creative with your location! Whether it’s a stool in a studio, a vintage bathtub, or even using mirrors for your pics, you better work bitch!!

Add Some Color

Don’t be afraid to be LOUD in your boudoir photoshoot. Whether it is through props, lighting, a backdrop, or your outfit, make it colorful! It’s SO fun and brings so much life to your session.

Leah’s Edgy, Editorial Boudoir Photoshoot

Leah came into the studio wanting something bold: edgy lighting, her favorite leather jacket, and a little red wine (obviously). By the end, she wasn’t just posing, she was OWNING it. That’s what I love about sessions like hers; they’re not about playing a part, they’re about finding yourself again.

This session was SUCH a good time. Leah is such a baddie, and getting to create a boudoir vision with her that felt true and empowering to her is why I do what I do!! I couldn’t be more obsessed with these pictures, I mean, the poses, the outfits, the props?! 10/10.

Leah didn’t show up already confident, the confidence happened during the session. And that’s what I want for you too. It’s not about who you think you should be, it’s about who you already are!

Love the vibes? This session was shot in my own studio, and Glimmer Gloss by Chloe killed Leah’s makeup for the shoot!
