Boudoir photos are already my JAM, and when we add an adventure to your session?? I LOVEEE!!! If you’re planning your boudoir session and you want something a little different, I gotchu, babes!! Here are TONS of boudoir photo ideas from Reba’s outdoor boudoir session I captured as a Tennessee boudoir photographer.

Outdoor Boudoir Photo Ideas
Okay, I mean, when in Tennessee… You HAVE to be outside. Because being in the mountains and connecting with nature?? We love!! And when you add that into the meaning behind boudoir photos (self-love and confidence, always), we get a session that’s full of meaning and HOT AS HELLLL.
If that sounds like it’s right up your alley, here are some of my FAVE boudoir photo ideas for anyone planning a session outside:
Take a Hike
Tennessee has some HELLLAAA gorg views, so going to the mountains always gets a yes from me!! Whether we’re in the woods at a waterfall like in Reba’s session or we’re on a mountaintop at sunrise, I’m gonna be obsessed and hyping you up like crazy!!

Add in Some Props
I’m ALWAYS down for props and accessories, and when we’re outside, these are a few that I love seeing!!:
- Blankets, towels, or something to wrap up in
- Bouquets
- Hats

Have a Theme
As a Tennessee boudoir photographer, I LOVE a theme. It’s one of my favorite boudoir photo ideas!! Whether you’re going with an edgy feel like Leah, a Valentine’s Day theme like Shania, or boho vibes… Know that I’m SO here for it, babes!!
Being outside, there are a few boudoir photo theme ideas that I’m obsesssssed with:
- Southern rustic – like Reba’s session; a wooded location, a trucker hat, and good ole Tennessee energy!!
- Boho – dried flowers + mountain views + a neutral color palette = a dream.
- Ethereal woodland fairy – one of my absolute favorite boudoir photo ideas because… Can you IMAGINE?? I picture fairy wings, a light color palette, and a dreamy, airy location. LOVEEE!!
- Golden hour – because sunset photos in gold, yellow, or orange lingerie are always a vibe.

Go for a Swim
Okay, swimming boudoir photos?? They’re some of my FAVES. Because the way we can play with water gives us photos that are actually INSANEEE. It’s giving steamy bath energy, and you already know that’s SO HOTTT!!

Get Creative With Outfits
I love boudoir because you can wear whatever the hell you want to!! If you’re going for a swim, wear a sexy AF bathing suit. For a hike, lingerie + some hiking boots have me GAGGED!! You don’t always have to go traditional, and as a Tennessee boudoir photographer, I honestly love it when you don’t!! You can find TONS of boudoir photo outfit ideas in my full boudoir guide.
Reba wore a layered bikini, a trucker hat, and a pair of Doc Martens, and the vibes were IMMACULATE. Literally perfect for Tennessee boudoir photos!!

Where to Take Outdoor Boudoir Photos in Tennessee
Loving the vibes?? Yeah, same!! The next step in planning your boudoir session is picking where you want to take your photos, but you already know I’ve got ideas for you!!
The key here is picking a location where there aren’t too many people so that we can have privacy, and these are some that work every time:
- Ozone Falls – this is where we took Reba’s photos, and the waterfall was EVERYTHINGGG.
- House Mountain
- Tuckaleechee Caverns
- Valley Flower Farm

Boudoir Photo Ideas to Make Your Session Feel Like YOU
If you’re a nontraditional, bold AF boudoir baddie… You’ve gotta make your session feel like YOU. Because, trust me, you’re the hottest when you’re totally and completely yourself, babes!! Here are a few ways that I always get my girls to make their photos feel true to them:
- Include things you love – love hiking? Let’s go, babes!! Spend your free time listening to records? Bring your faves to the studio!!
- Wear whatever makes you comfortable – whether that’s traditional lace or a super unique, nontraditional outfit.
- Choose a location with some meaning – after all, this IS the ultimate self-love experience!! Tie it into your story, babe!!

Outdoor Boudoir Photos FAQ
Outdoor boudoir comes with its own way of planning, but don’t worry, you know I gotchu!!
What’s the Best Time of Day for Outdoor Boudoir Photos?
Sunrise will always be my fav. The lighting is soft and dreamyyy, and it’s way less crowded, so you have more privacy!!
How Do I Make My Outdoor Boudoir Photos Private?
Location is KEY to making your boudoir session feel secluded and all about you!! Not choosing somewhere that has a ton of people will be your best route, and I also always tell my clients to wear something over their lingerie so that if we’re hiking or walking to our spot, you can be more covered up if we’re passing people on the way there!!
What if it Rains During My Outdoor Boudoir Session?
Honestly, I love to embrace the rain when this happens!! I think it gives us some super sexy pics, but if that’s not you, we can always find somewhere with some coverage.
